Weekly Newsletter January 20th - January 26th

Current Events: The holiday shortened week has not stopped the U.S. markets from continuing recent successes across all major indexes. Wall Street has clearly embraced the quarterly earnings announced to date by corporations as low expectations have been the root of pleasant surprises.

What to Look for This Week

Google and Apple are just a few of the technology savvy corporations that are set to report earnings this week along with the slew of companies from various other sectors and industries including the airlines, which have Delta, Southwest, and United Continental schedule to announce.

 News Affecting the Markets

The S&P 500 index posted its longest winning streak in nearly six weeks on Tuesday, backed heavily by favorable quarterly results from many popular corporations including the insurance giant Travelers.
Smart Investing

Invest in Your Career:  You will not be able to invest much for retirement if you don't have a job that pays well. If you're in a job that doesn't seem to have a bright future, maybe it's time to investigate what type of training or education you need to start a career with more of an up-side. Or if you're in a good career already, think about the steps you can take that will make you more valuable, and thus more likely to be earning raises and promotions. Think you have been doing well at work but have not received a raise lately? Consider asking for one, but do your homework first.
